Denison Hydraulic Pumps

General Overview

Denison hydraulic pumps may be best characterized by their efficiency. This efficiency allows for greater flow, and results in higher productivity and lower costs to you. Most Denison hydraulic pumps are manufactured to operate in a variety of settings. The biggest difference will be noticed in industries where high pressure and the ability to vary flow are required at the least possible cost.

Operation & Mounting of Pump

The shaft of a Denison hydraulic pump is splined to a barrel that carries the pump’s axial pistons. The pistons end in a ball, which has a shoe that is free to pivot and rotate. The outcome from this effect is that the barrel and piston shoes compensate for wear on the pump, variations in thickness of the fluid being pumped, and dimensional changes caused by temperature and pressure.

Abex Denison hydraulic pumps have the ability to operate from any position. The pump shaft does need to be in alignment with the source driver. It is particularly important to connect the pilot bore and coupling if the shaft is connected to the driven load without flexible coupling.

Piping, Viscosity, Temperature, & Maintenance

Make certain not to use a galvanized pipe when working with a Denison hydraulic pump. Galvanized coating can flake off with continuous use. Undersized inlet or outlet lines will keep the pump from operating at full speed and create back pressure. Rid yourself of any sharp bends that might exist in the lines. Finally, be sure to clean all system piping before installing pump.

90 VI minimum viscosity. It is possible to have higher values to extend the range of the operating temperature, but this may condense the service life of the fluid.

Temperature is determined by the viscosity of the fluid. High temperatures corrode seals, diminish the service life of the fluid, and create general operating hazards. Fluid temperature should not exceed 180° F.

Denison hydraulic pumps are self-lubricating. Simple preventative maintenance is required, however. Such maintenance includes, but is not limited to, frequent changing of filters, and the tightening of fittings and screws. A detailed service manual will be provided for preservation and simple repairs. For further assistance, Nova Hydraulics’ experts are trained and experienced in Denison pump repairs including several makes and models from Hagglunds Denison, Abex Denison, and Parker Denison lines. Nova Hydraulics’ specialists can repair your Denison pump within a 1-3 day turnaround.

History

Denison Hydraulics was originally founded in 1900 in Delaware, OH. After barely surviving the depression, the company developed test stands and presses to develop aircraft and weapons during WWII to increase production of aircrafts and safely manufacture high explosive shells. The company has grown over the years and remains at the forefront of innovation in the hydraulic pumps industry. They are a publicly traded company with worldwide sales and distribution components.
